Site Directions
From Bemidji, take US 71 south 4.1 miiles to Co. Rd. 9 (also called South Plantangenet Rd.). Turn right and go about 4 miles on Co. Rd. 9. Turn right on to Co. Rd. 29 and head north a half-mile and turn left on to the Neilson Spearhead Driveway. When you are finished, retrace your steps to Bemidji.
Landmarks: From Itasca State Park, turn left on Co. Rd. 9 to get to the Neilson Spearhead Center.

Site Description
A 460 acre nature preserve operated by Audubon, the center is a preserve established around Spearhead Lake. Dedicated to Ecological and educational research.
Ornithological and/or Birding Significance
The open water is great for viewing waterfowl.
